Styling separate pieces can be frustrating enough on its own, and when you add the constantly shifting trends and styles into the mix, it becomes even more challenging. So, how can one maintain a stylish appearance while keeping a manageable wardrobe and simplifying daily outfit choices?
The answer is straightforward: sticking to classic essentials that never go out of style
People worldwide are embracing the idea that decluttering and owning fewer things can simplify life. This trend has fueled the growing popularity of capsule wardrobes. The concept revolves around owning a carefully curated selection of durable essentials that can be effortlessly combined to create numerous outfits.

Monsoon Capsule Wardrobe: Dos & Don’ts
As the monsoon season begins, it’s time to adjust your wardrobe for the monsoon. Let's take a look at some dos and don’ts.
Opt for Bright and Lively Colors
During rainy days, grey clouds can create a dull atmosphere that affects your mood. To counter this, brighten up your surroundings by wearing vibrant clothing. Choose colours like yellow, orange, lime green, pink, and red to add a cheerful touch to your style in the monsoon season. Simple outfits such as shorts, t-shirts, dresses, or kurtis work well on rainy days.
Choose Lightweight Fabrics
When selecting attire for the rainy season, opt for breathable fabrics that can manage the high humidity levels. Lightweight and airy materials such as linen, cotton, and organza are ideal choices. They don't stick to your skin.
Choose sandals over sneakers
During the monsoon season, open sandals are undoubtedly the ideal footwear choice. Unlike shoes or sneakers, sandals do not absorb water, making them easier to clean from mud and quick to dry. They also help prevent unpleasant odours. Avoid footwear with fabric components to maintain comfort and cleanliness during rainy weather.
4. Limit Your Accessories
During the rainy season, opt for minimalist chains or small, simple earrings. Avoid wearing bulky rings and bracelets, as they can become cumbersome when you need to hold an umbrella for extended periods. Keeping your accessories minimal will ensure comfort and convenience during rainy weather.
Now that we have understood about the capsule wardrobe, the Do's and Don'ts here are some of my favourite picks to help you build your own.
TOPS
Tops make up the base of your outfits and can define the rest of your look which makes them the most important part of your outfit. They should be comfortable and the colour is also a very important element to consider. Neutral colours are quintessential for creating capsule outfits. Investing in high-quality basics is the key to building capsule outfits.

BOTTOMS
Finding the right size of bottoms that are comfortable and that also flatter your body type is the main step in building your capsule wardrobe. They should be easy to style with other tops and layers. The colour and shade is also a very important factor.
Pleated long skirts, Trousers, Bootcut denims etc. can be a great addition.

LAYERS
When it rains and the wind is cold, layering up gives warmth and an intriguing appearance. A trench coat keeps you looking fashionable and is suited for rainy weather. A casual blazer should be on your wish list for formal occasions and work wear. Scarves are another excellent choice for layering.
